Jeff graduated in 1987 from Taylor Center H. S. and continued his education at Eastern Michigan University.  Originally, Jeff had planned to pursue a degree in Sports Medicine, but his path changed.  Working his way through college, many with his brother Gary’s construction business, Jeff completed his degree in Physical Education in 1996.

After graduation his career ambitions were in the field of Sports Marketing.  (Jeff had also completed minors in Marketing and Political Science.)  While job searching, Jeff continued to work with his brother, including many jobs through the Community Development Block Grant program. In 1997, Jeff decided to further advance his education and entered the graduate program for Public Administration at EMU.

While studying at EMU, Jeff began work with the Taylor School District as a substitute teacher.  It was here that Jeff realized his passion for teaching; he had been coaching athletics since leaving high school.  After a couple quick phone calls he switched his courses and began working on his teacher certification.  Jeff completed his requirements while substitute teaching in Taylor and in 1999 was hired by the Crestwood School District.  While at Crestwood, Jeff has coached a variety of sports and spent 9 years as the Varsity Softball coach.

Jeff completed his graduate degree in School Administration through Central Michigan University in 2003.  Most of Jeff’s time at Crestwood has been in the classroom teaching United States Government classes.  Jeff has also served his fellow teachers as a union vice-president and a negotiator.

Elected to City Council in 2005, Jeff served on the Planning commission and Master Plan Steering committee.  He stills serves on the Tax Increment Finance Authority and the Brownfield Redevelopment Board.

Jeff and his wife, Mishelle, met while at EMU.  They began dating in 1992, and lucky for Jeff, she stuck with him all those years and they finally married in 1999.  Although Mishelle holds a degree in Psychology from EMU she had spent most of her career in the Sales industry.  The first half of her career was in retail sales (including a number of years managing in a store in Southland mall).  The second half has taken her into the Pharmaceutical Sales profession were she still works today.

In 2006, Jeff and Mishelle were blessed with the birth of their beautiful daughter Jillian.  Jillian has brought an unparalleled level of joy to both of their lives.
